The Directorial Decree of 8 May 2024 allocates the resources of the IPCEI Fund, activated with Ministerial Decree 11/12/2023, to the integration of facilitative interventions for beneficiary companies and research organizations within the scope of IPCEI Microelettronica 2.

Things

IPCEI ME/CT, or IPCEI Microelectronics 2, is the second major Project of Common European Interest (IPCEI) on microelectronics and communication technologies which aims to promote research, development and innovation – including the first industrial application – of the sectors to accelerate their green and digital transformation, in particular: • creating innovative microelectronics and communication solutions; • developing energy-efficient and resource-efficient electronic systems and production methods. IPCEI is expected to drive technological progress in many areas, including communications (5G and 6G), autonomous driving, artificial intelligence and quantum computing. It will also support the green transition of companies active in the production, distribution and use of energy. The first new products could be placed on the market as early as 2025 and the overall completion of the project is scheduled for 2032, with variable deadlines depending on the project and the companies involved.

What does it predict

Granting of benefits to the subjects implementing the project, authorized as a result of the European Commission Decision C (2023) 3817 final of 8 June 2023. The admitted participants must submit an application for access to the benefits between 15 October 2023 and 15 December 2023 with the methods indicated on the page of the Ministry website dedicated to IPCEI Microelectronics 2.
