Public tender for the selection of project proposals to be financed on the national territory for the strengthening of the renewable energy supply chain to encourage the transition towards a green, independent and sustainable energy economy within the research program of the Extended Partnership "Network 4 Energy Sustainable Transition – NEST, using the resources of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) Mission 4 “Education and Research” – Component 2 “From Research to Business” – Investment 1.3, financed by the European Union – Next Generation UE -, pursuant to the public notice of the Ministry of University and Research (MUR) n. 341 of 15.03.2022 CUP I53C22001450006 

Who is it aimed at?

a) Public Administrations; b) Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) competing individually or collaboratively with other enterprises, having the dimensional parameters referred to in Annex I of REG (EC) no. 800/2008 of the Commission of 6 August 2008 (General Block Exemption Regulation) in OJEU L 214 of 9.8.2008; c) Innovative startups established no more than 24 months ago (art. 25 of Legislative Decree 179/2012 - startup.registroimprese.it); d) Large Enterprises (GI); e) Foreign companies that undertake to establish at least one operational headquarters on Italian territory, in the event of awarding the contribution, by the date of signing the Obligatory Contract; f) Universities and bodies supervised by the MUR; g) Research Organizations registered in the National Research Registry (ANR); h) Public and private foundations, registered with the ANR, with recognized legal personality and a statute in which the carrying out of Research & Innovation activities is indicated among the fundamental objectives; i) Consortium companies and consortia with an international scope, provided that at least one partner has an operational unit in Italy. 

What does it predict

The Spoke 3 Call “Bioenergy & New biofuels for sustainable future”, part of the NEST Research and Innovation Program “Network 4 Energy Sustainable Transition” (PE00000021) is financed by the European Union within the Next Generation EU initiative, valid on the resources of Mission 4 "Education and research", Component 2 "From research to business", as part of Investment 1.3 "Partnerships extended to universities, research centres, businesses and financing of research projects" of the PNRR. The initiative promotes a scheme based on cascade funding to support research projects carried out individually or jointly by subjects referred to in the art. 2.1 of this Notice, interested in the themes of the Hub and the topics covered by the Spokes and also involving the actors of the partnerships. In particular, Spoke 3 "Bioenergy & New biofuels for sustainable future" provides for the implementation of cascading calls to support six (6) themes, consistent with its areas of specialization, through the provision of appropriate funding. The objective of the Call is to launch synergistic and complementary projects with respect to the activities of the Work Packages with the aim of: – creating research infrastructures, pilot plants, proof of concepts complementary to those developed by the affiliates in the SPOKE 3 program; – produce intermediates/bioproducts on semi-industrial scale pilot plants not present in NEST. The involvement of partners with plants of this size contributes to the implementation of technology transfer actions for the supply chains of interest to NEST; – involve research centers dedicated to the development of technologies and methodologies related to agricultural engineering in agricultural and forestry systems (agricultural mechanization, environmental management, Agriculture 4.0 and biomass energy conversion), with the aim of comprehensively representing an agro-energy supply chain complete.
