Description

The SA8000 standard is an international certification standard that promotes socially acceptable working practices. Developed by Social Accountability International in 1997, the standard is based on international human rights principles and International Labor Organization (ILO) conventions. The SA8000 standard covers nine key areas, including child labour, forced labour, health and safety, freedom of association, discrimination, disciplinary practices, working hours, remuneration and management systems. Organizations must demonstrate an ongoing commitment to improving working conditions and ensuring respect for workers' rights.
