The intervention is part of the national research, innovation and competitiveness program 2021-27 in support of research and development projects, to be carried out in the territories of the less developed regions, consistent with the technological falling within the scope of the Regulation (EU) n. 2024/795, which establishes a platform for strategic technologies for Europe (Strategic Technologies for Europe Platform - Step).

Who is it aimed at?

Companies of any dimension with at least two financial statements approved at the time of submitting the application for concessions , which carry out industrial, agro -industrial, crafts and research centers. Research bodies, agricultural enterprises and industry services companies can be co-planning of a joint project with the aforementioned subjects.

What does it predict

The concessions are granted, within the limits of the maximum aid intensity and the individual notification thresholds established, respectively, by article 25 and by article 4 of the Gber Regulation, in the following forms in competition with each other:

  • in the form of the subsidized loan, for a nominal percentage equal to 50% of the costs and eligible costs;
  • In the form of the direct contribution to the expenditure, for a nominal percentage of the costs and admissible expenses articulated as follows:
    • 35% for small companies;
    • 30% for medium -sized companies;
    • 25% for large companies.

 

For research organisations, the benefits are granted exclusively in the form of a direct contribution to expenditure, for a nominal percentage equal to 60% of the eligible costs and expenses for industrial research activities and equal to 40% of the eligible costs and expenses of experimental development.

What is the critical and emerging technologies call for (step)?
The Step call finances industrial research and experimental development projects on critical technologies identified by the EU Step Regulation. Who are the eligible beneficiaries for the Step call?

What types of projects are admitted in the step call?
Industrial research and experimental development projects are financed aimed at new or improved products, processes or services, consistent with the critical technologies step. www.management-advisor.eu helps in the design of the technical content.
What are the spending and duration limits for each type of project?
Collaborative research: expenses from € 1 million to € 5 million, duration 18-36 months. STEP support: from € 5 million to € 20 million, duration 18-36 months. Start activities within 3 months of approval. www.management-advisor.eu planning the operational chronology.
How does the participation or single participation work?
Collaborative research: max 3 proponents (including leader), at least one SME and each covers ≥10% costs, or single SMEs with external partners. Step: up to 5 proponents or single large enterprises. www.management-advisor.eu defines the partnership.
What forms of facilitation does it provide for step?
Subsidized financing at 50% of the eligible costs and direct contribution (35% for small, 30% medium -sized, 25% large). Research bodies: 60% contribution on R&I and 40% on experimental development. www.management-advisor.eu supports the financial structure.
What expenses are admissible in the Step project?
They are admissible: technical and refinement staff, new tools and equipment, consultancy and licenses, general expenses and materials strictly linked to the project. www.management-advisor.eu helps in drafting the eligible budget.
In which regions should steps project take place?
The projects must be carried out in local units placed in the less developed regions: Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Molise, Puglia, Sardinia and Sicily. www.management-advisor.eu verifies the territoriality of the operating offices.
How many questions can a proposing subject submit?
Each subject can only submit a question, both single and joint. Research bodies can participate in multiple projects through autonomous departments. www.management-advisor.eu supports the management of multiple applications.
How does the evaluation of the step questions take place?
The requests are evaluated on the basis of the criteria defined in the DM and in the directorial decree. Mediocredito Centrale manages the investigation and ranking. www.management-advisor.eu accompanies the documentation and definition of the presentation strategy.
