PNRR Agritech project cascade call for the development of research and technological development projects in the aquaculture sector. 

Who is it aimed at?

The Notice is aimed at private entities (such as individual businesses pursuant to art. 2082 of the civil code, partnerships and capital companies pursuant to articles 2247 et seq. of the civil code, associations and foundations pursuant to articles 14 et seq. of the code. civ., ordinary consortia pursuant to articles 2602 et seq. of the civil code), universities, public research institutions referred to in Legislative Decree no. 218/2016, in single or associated form.

What does it predict

Subtopic 1): Sustainable and smart management of nutrition in aquaculture. Within this sub-theme, project proposals must focus on one or more of the following approaches/objectives: use of unconventional raw materials aimed at reducing environmental impact, improvement of animal health and well-being, nutritional quality of fish products from a circular economy perspective; development of smart/precision feeding systems aimed at improving the efficiency of distribution and use of feed and reducing the environmental impact, through the use of sensors, robots and Machine Learning, Computer Vision and Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to monitor and predict water quality, evaluate and predict the biomass present and the feeding behavior of aquatic animals. Subtopic 2): AI for Digital Farming and Traceability. Within this sub-theme, project proposals must focus on one or more of the following approaches/objectives: development and implementation of AI systems for the digitalisation of breeding processes for the purposes of automatic evaluation of spatial distribution, movement patterns, reactivity to stimuli, analysis of animal behavior as a function of environmental and climatic factors; implementation of a fish product traceability system with the detection of multi-year historical series of environmental and management data during the entire production and transformation process to be correlated to the production performance and state of health of the animals and the quality and food safety of the fish product.
