Announcement 2 Research and development projects for SMEs and Midcaps (mid-cap companies), approved with decree 27717 of 29 December 2023. The Tuscany Region intends to develop and strengthen the research and innovation capabilities of the Tuscan production system and the introduction of advanced technologies through support for R&D investments by companies, in implementation of Action 1.1.4 "Research and development for companies also in grouping with research organisations" referred to in Regional Council Resolution no. 124 of 20 February 2023, which approved version no. 1 of the Regional Implementation Document (DAR) of the “PR Tuscany FESR 2021-2027.

Who is it aimed at?

Individual or cooperative MSMEs and Midcaps are recipients (in a minimum number of at least 3 MSMEs, in addition to any Midcaps), with or without OR. In the case of joint projects, the companies are associated in the forms of: • ATS; • RTI; • Networks of companies without legal personality (Network-Contract). Access to the tender is also extended to professionals as they are equated with companies as carrying out economic activities, regardless of their legal form. Therefore, whenever the term "business" is used, it is also understood to refer to the category of "professionals", unless otherwise specified.

What does it predict

The intervention aims to support investments in industrial research and experimental development (as defined in article 2, points 85) and 86) of EU Reg. 651/2014) of Tuscan companies, encouraging cooperation between companies and between companies and research organisations, also with the aim of promoting the ecological transition. In particular, the objective pursued by the Tuscany Region is achieved through the granting of concessions in the form of: • a) direct capital grant for expenditure (hereinafter "direct grant"); • b) commensurate capital grant to interest (hereinafter "interest subsidy") reserved for MSMEs only.
