Facilitative instrument aimed at supporting the implementation of investment plans capable of promoting the green transition, research and development of the automotive sector in Italy. With Directorial Decree of 23 February 2023, starting from 10 am on 24 February 2023, the suspension of the deadlines for submitting applications for benefits valid in the territory of the following regions is established: Emilia-Romagna, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Lazio, Liguria, Lombardy , Marche, Autonomous Province of Bolzano, Autonomous Province of Trento, Tuscany, Umbria, Valle d'Aosta and Veneto. The desk remains open exclusively for the Piedmont region within the framework agreement signed and for the regions of Southern Italy (Abruzzo, Molise, Campania, Basilicata, Calabria, Puglia, Sicily and Sardinia). With Directorial Decree of 27 March 2023, starting from 10 am on 28 March 2023, the suspension of the deadlines for submitting applications for relief in the territories of the Piedmont region is established. With directorial decree of 2 November 2023, starting from 10.00 am on 2 November 2023, the suspension of the deadlines for submitting applications for relief in the territories of the regions of Southern Italy (Abruzzo, Molise, Campania, Basilicata, Calabria, Puglia, Sicily and Sardinia). 

Who is it aimed at?

The tool is aimed at research centers and companies of all sizes operating throughout the national territory that intend to implement an industrial research and experimental development program for environmental protection, aimed at supporting and promoting the green transition, research and investments through the establishment of innovative and sustainable supply chains on the national territory.

What does it predict

The projects eligible for the subsidies must include the implementation of industrial research and experimental development activities aimed at the development and production of new vehicles minimizing emissions, technologies functional to the lightening of vehicles (including urban mobility), new systems, mechanical and electronic components , vehicle connectivity, data management, human-vehicle interaction and infrastructure systems for refueling and charging vehicles. The instrument is aimed at supporting: 1) research and development projects subject to applications for relief already submitted at the first desk, pursuant to the decree of 31 December 2021, and not admitted to the preliminary phase due to lack of resources; 2) new research and development projects. The benefits are granted in the form of a direct contribution to expenditure and, possibly, subsidized financing, in compliance with the following limits and criteria: a) the maximum limit of the aid intensity of the grants that can be granted is equal to 50% of the eligible costs of industrial research and 25% of the eligible costs of experimental development; b) the subsidized loan, if requested, can be granted up to a limit of 20% of the total eligible project costs
